The Art of Memory and Masonry

A new Video!

The Art of Memory and Masonry is a fascinating and expertly researched talk was written by Clarence A. Anderson. I have tried my best to find a date for the text, but have been unsuccessful.

My researches have found that there is a Clarence A. Anderson Jr. currently a member of St Paul Lodge No. 3 in Minnesota. I have sent an email to this brother, but have not received a reply. If he is the author of the work I congratulate him on his endeavours and pray his indulgence for my publication of his text. If he wishes it to be removed, I can be contacted at toowoombadistrictmasonic@gmail.com or via the website, and will happily do so.

When I was initiated 47 years ago there were no Ritual Books in use by the Grand Lodge of Ireland. To learn what to do and say for a particular Office I attended a Lodge of Instruction, which was organized by the Provincial Grand Lodge. Here I learned the Ritual of my Office by watching, listening to and memorizing what was done by an exemplification team. It is amazing how quickly you memorize something being repeated in front of you a number of times. In those days the First Degree Obligation was taken much more literally. I believe though that Ritual books have now been introduced.
