I participated in a large memorial for a Lodge Brother last week. As a new FC, I appreciated how he always made a point of sitting beside me in the South to make sure I felt welcomed. I knew his senses were rapidly deteriorating but he tried his best not to draw attention to his own troubles.
As our wise, old WM laid the Lambskin and Evergreen onto the casket, through a tear, I visualised some young, strong brothers, each side, like pillars, pointing to the future of the Craft. Alas, not today, but a beautiful vision of a time to come. Hopefully not far away.
The greatest monuments of history have fallen to barbarous forces and the ravages of time. Yet Freemasonry still survives. It endures because the mysteries of Masonry are forever firmly lodged in a long line of faithful breasts. Just like my Brother.

Thank you for the beautiful sentiment. I too, sadly, have to go to a memorial service for a great Masonic friend and mentor next week. Your words mean a lot and will help to bring me solace then.
