This is a lengthy anonymous presentation which asks some intriguing questions.

From the style and tone it was clearly written in the late 19th or early 20th century. I suspect it is from the pen of AE Waite. In the interests of length, I did elide a lengthy discursive passage about Graeco-Roman religious practices.
