Keys to the Divine

Good evening Quarrymen and welcome to our new YouTube Channel Members Rocky and francis Akpata.

This weekend, as voted by our Channel members we have a presentation by Arthur Edward Waite that reinterprets Masonic symbolism beyond mere ethical instruction, framing it as a spiritual pilgrimage—an itinerarium mentis in Deum, or “journey of the mind into God.” Waite identifies core symbols such as the Pentagram, Hexagram, Blazing Star, Sun and Moon, and the Point within a Circle, not simply as ritual emblems but as profound metaphysical signifiers of cosmic and spiritual realities. He distinguishes clearly between the Blazing Star—a symbolic representation of divine providence and spiritual illumination—and the Pentagram, emblematic of humanity as microcosm and Christly dominion over nature. Similarly, the Hexagram represents macrocosmic perfection, the union of divine principles and universal correspondence, while the Sun and Moon reflect spiritual dualities of divine intellect and soulful receptivity. Waite views the Point within a Circle as symbolizing the ineffable Infinite made comprehensible within human consciousness, a sacramental manifestation of the divine. Thus, Waite’s exposition transforms Masonic iconography into contemplative keys guiding initiates towards mystical union with the divine.
