Good evening Quarrymen
This weekend …
In these two contrasting yet complementary texts, Dr. Albert Churchward and Arthur Edward Waite approach the arcana of Freemasonry from opposite ends of the esoteric spectrum—one through comparative mythology and Egyptological reconstruction, the other through mystical theology and perennial philosophy. Churchward’s extract from The Arcana of Freemasonry (1915) boldly traces the Divine Name—YHWH—not to Hebrew revelation, but to the solar deities and linguistic echoes of ancient Egypt, revealing Freemasonry as a vestige of primordial wisdom encoded in myth, symbol, and sound. In contrast, Waite’s luminous exposition on “Divine Union,” drawn from his Encyclopedia of Freemasonry, articulates the inner telos of the Masonic quest—not as historical recovery, but as mystical ascent. Together, these texts illuminate two poles of Masonic thought: one outward and ancient, seeking origins; the other inward and eternal, seeking consummation.
