Community FAQ

What is the From the Quarries Community?

From the Quarries Community is an online service that allows people from around the world to upload and share their content with like-minded subscribers. Currently From the Quarries platforms (website, YouTube channel, Facebook page, Twitter channel) receive 3-4000 unique visitor interactions per week, so content uploaded will be widely viewed.

What sort of content can be included?

From the Quarries is an archive of Masonic Lore, so its content is generally specific to Freemasonry and associated orders, however this is a very broad field, so often discussions of esoteric topics (alchemy, hermeticism, orientalism, moral philosophy, etc.) are included.

Content on the platforms is organised into the following categories:

  • Generally Masonic
  • History of Freemasonry
  • Symbolism of Freemasonry
  • Esoteric

Do I have to be a Freemason to submit my content?

No. Submissions on topics of interest to the From the Quarries audience will be accepted from anybody.

But I thought you were a Masonic site – aren’t the Masons a secret society?

<sigh> No, Freemasonry is not a secret society. We have a few practices that we do not share with non-members, but our philosophical and moral beliefs are widely held and publicly available. The discussions of the history, moral philosophy and symbolism of the Craft on From the Quarries do not in any way affect the obligations taken by Masons all over the world.

How do I submit?

  1. Email toowoombadistrictmasonic@gmail.com to establish contact and let me know that you have some content to submit.
  2. We will clarify the content and resolve any outstanding questions by email
  3. Once the details are clarified I’ll provide a link to which you can upload your content
  4. I will clean up and format the audio and video (if necessary) and publish to the following platforms:
    • From the Quarries YouTube channel
    • From the Quarries website (fromthequarries.com)
    • From the Quarries Facebook page
    • From the Quarries Twitter channel.

Who owns my content?

You do. All content uploaded in your name will remain yours. It will be fully attributed to you on all platforms. Your details can include none, any or all of the following at your request:

  • Name
  • Masonic or personal biography
  • Photo
  • Other works and publications
  • As a general rule we will not collect or publish personal contact details (phone, email, address, etc.) unless you specifically request.

What if I want to remove it?

If you would like your content removed at any time it will be immediately deleted upon request.

Will I receive credit?

Yes. This is your work. From the Quarries is merely hosting and distributing it on your behalf. As long as you don’t breach any copyright or IP conditions it’s all yours.

What can I submit?

You can submit content in any of the forms listed below.
