Interesting but brief description of the RCC and its appendant Orders. I may have told you this story before and if I have please forgive me. I have visited Roslyn Chapel, near Edinburgh on two occasions. Before the Da Vinci Code and after it was published. The second time (post Da Vinci Code) it was much more commercialized with a souvenir shop etc. There was sign at the ticket counter for Freemasons to make themselves known so that they could be guided around the building by a volunteer Masonic guide.. This I did and found I was the only Mason to be shown around by one of these volunteer guides. He explained all the usual Masonic and Templar carvings, such as the Apprentice Pillar and then came to another pillar, which had a Latin inscription. The guide explained that the Latin words were ‘The Seven Corporal Works of Mercy’ but that they had no Masonic connection. You can image his surprise when I replied ‘First, go feed the hungry. ‘Second, give drink to the thirsty’. ‘Third, clothe the naked with a garment’. I didn’t complete them all but asked him if he was a member of the Red Cross o Constantine, which he wasn’t. I then explained to him that what I had just recited was from the Ritual of one of its Appendant Orders called Knight of the Holy Sepulchre. The guide thanked me for the information and said he would update his ‘spiel’ accordingly. Lucky for me I had just recited it to a Candidate in Nazareth Conclave in Cairns the previous month!
