Cagliostro – Masonry, Magic, Mystery

Count Alessandro Cagliostro remains one of the most enigmatic figures of the Enlightenment—celebrated by occultists, condemned by the Church, and immortalized in both legend and infamy. This video traces his extraordinary journey through the secret chambers of Freemasonry, the salons of European aristocracy, and the prisons of the Inquisition, with a special focus on his creation of the Egyptian Rite and his role in the notorious Affair of the Diamond Necklace. Drawing on contemporary accounts, historical documents, and expert commentary, this is the story of a man who blurred the lines between mystic and impostor, and whose legacy still haunts the margins of Masonic history.

I find it fascinating that the age of enlightenment (1700s), were full of people who were intrigued by magic and laws of nature and alchemy. However, I’m curious to know the reason for this age and how it came about.
