The Apocalypse of Adam

Good evening Quarrymen

In the giving spirit of the season, here is a short Christmas release …

This video explores The Apocalypse of Adam, a striking Gnostic text preserved in the Nag Hammadi Library, presenting Adam’s final revelation to his son Seth as a radical counter-history of creation. The work depicts humanity’s loss of primordial divine knowledge under the rule of lesser cosmic powers and reframes salvation as awakening and remembrance rather than obedience or belief. Through a concise, chapter-by-chapter presentation, the video examines the text’s severe cosmology, its critique of religious authority, and its vision of a hidden lineage preserved beyond the deceptions of the world, situating it within the broader landscape of early Christian Gnostic thought.

I hope you enjoy it!

As someone who is very sympathetic to Gnosticism, I enjoyed this different take on the Genesis story. One little personal criticism is the use of the term CE (Christian Era) rather than AD (Anno Domini or Year of Our Lord). There was never any discussion of this change in Western Christian countries, it just seems to have been imposed on us without any debate or consultation.

    1. I agree with you, but I come from a Western academic background and using CE has become second nature. I must admit that I didn’t even think about it. Sorry!
