This is an invitation for you to join in the creative process by sharing your thoughts and theories. For quite a while I’ve been working on a concept looking at the emergence of speculative masonry in the 17th century. I’ve got a few ideas of my own, but I’m really keen to learn from the wisdom and input of all the Quarryfolk out there.

WHY, OUT OF ALL OF THE OPTIONS AVAILABLE, DO YOU CHOOSE STONE MASONS?
To put it simply – What was it about Stone Masons’ guilds that made them the right vehicle to serve as the basis of a progressive, secular, aspirational social organisation?
From the Quarries 
As a new FC, I feel completely unqualified but in the interest of creative spirit!: The glowing pyramid and eye symbol was used prominently in France during the 1789 Revolution and embossed on the Declaration of Human Rights. Either consciously or unconsciously, the newly enlightened were likely linking stone masonry (as a symbol or pointer) to the mysterious, enlightened, stone masons of the ancient past. These builders worked collectively on massive projects to send messages into the future. They knew great libraries would burn and languages eventually become untranslatable. But massive stones would survive catastrophes and the maddest of tyrants. The architects’ secrets are only slowly revealed with time and patience: The great pyramids perimeter (1760 royal cubits) / height (280 royal cubits) is 2 x pi: The “Kings Chamber” encodes a 3-4-5 “Pythagorean” triangle. Information encoded to say, “wisdom, beauty and strength was once here”. The Egyptian Mystery Schools are also likely just another modern order pointing to a more distant past. Our spirit knows but we are amnesiacs in this modern world; but some of us are called by a strange longing to build in stone again.
